Nov. 22nd, 2009 01:35 amI'm not sure that watching four episodes straight of Private Practice is good for anyone's brain, but hey, at least the sky+ box has a teeny tiny bit more space on it now... hopefully. Also, I got to fastforward through every single scene featuring Sam and Naomi, so it was way less whiny than usual
(also, the season finale, despite already knowing what happens with Violet, still manages to be kinda stomach-churning in the previews. That kinda thing happens waaay too often in real life these days)
As far as the new tv season is going.. I kinda love FlashForward, if only for producing the single most squirm-inducing scene on tv this year (when Lloyd shows up at Olivia and Mark's house, and realises that, er, Olivia is... Olivia. Or.. will be? Or something.). Also for the total batshit craziness all round, really.
I was liking Star Gate Universe at first, but six eps in and I don't give a damn about the characters, plus the communication stone things are just icky and make my skin crawl.. (also, can Chloe please get killed off now!) I didn't even give Defying Gravity a chance, after the uniformly awful reviews (also, cos, hell, if you're going to blatently rip off a title, why pick on a song from Wicked?).
Heyhey, I have two whole days off work! And I didn't even have to stay til midnight to finish up on Friday, which is.. hell, unheard of. Having spent the entire week arguing with both PPP and BUPA about two private patients (as per usual for The Extra Job From Hell I Can't Ditch). So far they're refusing to fund chemo for a relapse and rehab for a chemo-induced... something. There is very little more depressing in my line of work than trying to argue with a glorified call-centre worker as to why they should be authorising treatment for a cancer patient, when it's kinda clear they barely understand the situation to begin with. And I'm not medically trained (nor do I want to be) so, hell, it really shouldn't be me doing the arguing in the first place. Aaand, yet again I'm just thankful I'm doing this in the UK where we have options. Nobody's life is really at stake in this situation at this point (although the funding refusal kicks in at other points for unapproved cancer drugs for NHS patients, but only affects people who have had the opportunity for several types of conventional treatment to fail first).
