aliens vs Austen!zombies
Apr. 18th, 2009 01:07 amReally not doing my Farscape re-watch justice today.. just hit the last ep of season one now and I'm only really half-watching *sigh* Getting impatient for the leather-wearing and the major shipping to kick off properly now, although I'd forgotten how much fun Nerve and Hidden Memory are ("I'm going to sacrifice myself to save Aeryn!" "I'm going to risk my new nerve regeneration to save Crichton after he got captured trying to save me!" And then Gilina saved everyone but didn't shoot Scorpy. Silly PK tech girl...)
But hey, I've had a lot more time than I expected this week, due to some random lurgyI can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's a virus or something, but I am really getting fed-up of feeling totally freaking drained, sick and shaky as I have been this week. It's not anything obvious; i'm not walking around with the flu or a bad cold like last year, but it's bugging the hell out of me. I keep walking into things because my reactions are off,and slightly concerned about what else I've frelled up at work after I realised I'd booked a PP in for the wrong date. Ack.
Hard to keep turning up for work at 2pm next week too though - plus the oesophageal spasm thing has kicked up to every frickin' day this week. That's a little up from the usual every couple of months, to the point where I was choking on a chip tonight (then I decided to dip them in the sweet potato soup, which was surprisingly edible!). Note to self: never ever ever google symptoms like that again. Bad, bad things, hypochondria and the internet, and you'd think I'd just remember what I do for a living and give up now.
Happier things.. I'm still loving Pride & Prejudice & Zombies... In fact, not only is the joke not wearing thin, but it's surprisingly meaty theme-wise. It may not be highbrow, but I'm loving the daft contrasts set up by making the sisters literally powerful with the zombie killing (poor Bingley is totally outclassed by Jane with a sword, lol) while still retaining the original dialogue. It throws the whole Regency society cliche slightly out of kilter - words and wit in the original literally equal physical training and lethal skillz in the sisters and Lady C (who has ninjas. *dies*). And the girls assure Mr B they could go earn a decent living as assassins or mercenaries should he die.. it's all played so damn straight, and the occasional image will hit you like anything out of Zack Snyder's DOTD.
Tonight was also supposed to be about making battenburn style cupcakes for dessert birthday party tomorrow... the black food dye didn't turn out so badly, but I have a monstrous pink thing to re-make tomorrow, oh dear..!
