I can haz a... labradoodle?!
Mar. 30th, 2008 08:55 pmSoooo... we got the dog. Who is 10 months old, already the size of a small horse, and looks kinda like this (cos I have pics stuck on my phone and the other computer, but not where I can get at them now). Alfie Doodle, indeed...
He is gorgeous, and ridiculously sweet natured (I can't even imagine anything that would make him snap or growl from what I've seen so far) and everybody lurves him... Hard to see why three people already tried adopting him and returned him to the rescue centre in his relatively short life, really.
Hard to see, but not impossible, I guess... He drew the short straw as far as labradoodle traits go, and didn't get the non-shedding poodle genes. Which makes him a huge (the reason the first family gave him up) and highly allergenic (the reason the last family gave him back) mutt. The second family apparently had a dog that didn't get on with him, but changed their minds after returning him but weren't allowed to take him a second time.
What can I say, though, I'm not a dog person... he's big and hairy and smelly, can reach everything and has a wonderful way of totally sweetly ignoring you every time he jumps on the bed/couch and covers it in mud. And it took frickin' hours to clean up the bathroom after we had a go at sticking him under the shower yesterday.
I'm more than a tad sleep-deprived (oh yay for British Summer Time! and not being able to keep kitten in the kitchen at night anymore) and my Demon Kitten is having a nervous breakdown at her usurption that's involved scratching me into little bits...
Heh. Time to go to bed now, methinks. It has not been a restful weekend, and for some weird reason I've had a backache which has spread to every joint downward; elbows, wrists, SI, knees, ankles, eep...!
