Well, that was a week and a half...

I finally finished my entire-Twilight-series reading binge Wednesday night after 10 days straight, which turned out way more fun than I'd been told.  It probably helped that I read
[info]cleolinda 's recaps the whole time, and read the whole of the Breaking Dawn commentary, spoilers galore, before I even read Twilight. So, absolutely no expectations to disappoint, just a whole bundle of sugary crackfic that I was eating up like, er, krispy kremes.  Om nom nom!

And the really weird thing: on one level I'm loving the piss-takes (Growing Up Cullen rocks!) and on another level, I was totally sucked in.  Like, taking it seriously.  What can I say, I'm a grown up and not exactly in danger of getting suckered by the seriously unhealthy (and pretty damn irritating) possessive relationship stuff.  Which the characters are weirdly aware of as well... it's hard to know how seriously to take it.  But it pushes all the fluffy romance buttons as far as I'm concerned, and it's damn well written stuff (I do not make a habit of tearing through entire series like this as I'm hellishly fussy with my books.   Couldn't read these ones quick enough though, and it was fun.) And Breaking Dawn was wonderfully squicky...!

Having said all that, it kinda hit me this week that, with the Twilight binge, I just read about 7 vamp romances in a row, and had another two waiting to go... what the hell is with that?! Not exactly my normal genre of choice. Although New Amsterdam isn't that simple, of course, and I'm still surprised that I didn't hate Danse Macabre. That was quite disturbing.  I kinda did want to know what happened next, although as nothing really happened (plot?! why would LKH need plot?!), that was weird.  Now, do I read Vampire Academy as well next, or is that just too much...?  The sensible thing would be to re-read Sunshine *sigh*

Random music channel obsevation #543: ooh, how did i never realise before that the Mr Brightside video was riffing on Moulin Rouge?! And did the Verve intend Love Is Noise to be their version of Foo Fighters' Best of You, or am i just seeing things in the vid...?
